The days are long. The sun is shining. School’s out for summer. Vacation season is upon us. Our sanity, energy, and self-confidence are running pleasantly high as summer gets underway. But it wasn’t all that long ago that we thought the dreadful winter would never leave, and looked forward to a long hot bath or shower at the end of a tiring, cold, and dreary day. There is nothing quite like stepping out of the bath or shower onto soft bath mats, wrapping yourself in a plush bathrobe, and being surrounded by beautiful spa-like accessories. This experience can nourish your soul more than you can imagine.

I’ve written a lot about cleansing and detoxifying my body through drinking warm water with lemon and combining Epsom salt, baking soda, and essential oils for long bath soaks. Most recently, I’ve incorporated a product called ‘8 greens’ into our entire family’s daily regimen and my list of ‘Beauty Counter’ products grow by the minute (see my previous post here). I’m health-conscious, and I strive for a clean environment every day.
When I started a recent home renovation, one of my projects was to turn my master bath into a space that felt like an at-home spa. I value being present and creating an environment where you can “shut off” all the mental stimulation, so creating a zen-like home experience was a priority for me.
It was easier than you’d think! My fabulous interior designer from Priscilla Fenlin Interiors has taught me so much about home décor. One thing she suggests is to hit online sites like Wayfair for plush towels, bath mats, and accessories. And, of course, you can never go wrong with Homegoods or Restoration Hardware.
Here are 5 ways you can turn your home bathroom into your own spa-like sanctuary.

1. Score spa-like products
Essential oils, Epsom salt, and baking soda are a must, as is a hard-bristle brush for body brushing. I have an entire routine dedicated to keeping my body and skin healthy, and that involves a weekly bath with the aforementioned products. Essential oils have such a positive impact on our overall well-being. I have diffusers all over my house, especially in my bathroom so that it can smell like a luxurious spa at any given moment. I diffuse Doterra Essential Oils only (I have an affinity for this brand). The Epsom salt/baking soda combination have amazing anti-inflammatory benefits so you can count on looking and feeling your best!
2. Get organized
You want to make it easy to access and use – day and night – the many beauty products you’ve invested in to help keep your skin youthful, hydrated, and healthy. I’ve had a beauty routine for many years and the list of “to do” items seems to be growing by the year! I have a slew of amazing facial products, and I am a huge believer in using as many natural products as possible. I find that the use of chemical-filled products does more damage than good. Check out this beauty product organizer to easily keep an eye on all your goods.
Bonus: don’t forget organization for your jewelry and small accessories! I like this crisp white accessory tray.
3. Let it rain
A quick and easy way to upgrade your bathroom experience is to switch out your shower head. Remember the last time you stayed at a hotel that had an amazing oversized shower head with an amazing stream of water that seemed to wrap around your body, and you thought to yourself, ‘I have GOT to get me one of these’? Well, you can get yourself one of those. It’s that easy. And it will take your relaxation to the next level. (Not to mention cut down time spent washing and rinsing hair!) Check out this detachable faucet and hand shower or this heavenly oversized shower head.
4. Wrap yourself in plush comfort
Plush, oversized towels and a comfy robe are other ways to add to the experience of “spa-like” living. (Think: luxury hotel spa. It will feel like a getaway every time!) Don’t forget the plush bathmat as you step out of your bath or shower refreshed with happy feet.

5. Make a statement
The first thing your eyes will focus on every time you walk in the bathroom is the vanity and all its elements – lights, sink, hardware, mirror, and all. Take the time to pick out a collection of pieces that fit your style (together), and elevate the beauty and design of your bathroom. Here are some of my favorite items on Wayfair right now:
Cottage White Marble Top Bathroom Vanity
Vitreous China Rectangular Undermount Bathroom Sink
Dryden Widespread Bathroom Faucet
Heritage Widespread Bathroom Faucet

Now, after reading this, when you get home, take a bath and unwind!
